Bedford Christmas - Get in the picture
HOPE IN BEDFORDSHIRE JOINS FORCES TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS
Two leading Christian groups, Hope in Bedfordshire and Bedfordshire Ecumenical Committee worked together last weekend to host ‘Get in the Picture’ between 10.00am and 1.00pm in the grounds of St Paul’s Church, St Paul’s Square, Bedford, MK40 1SQ.
A total of 35 pictures were posted on the Get in the picture website. The two groups sought to bring the spirit of Christmas to shoppers seeking to buy their last presents in the busy town centre. The event in Bedford town centre built on similar successful events hosted by churches in Shefford, Sandy and Biggleswade. Get in the picture was also a success in Kempston at the switch on of their Christmas lights earlier in the month.
Get in the picture was a free event which allows people, young and old alike, to have their picture taken in a nativity scene, located on the front lawn, with appropriate costumes and props. Guest had their picture taken, by our own photographer, these were then uploaded to the internet for download at a later date. The Get in the picture website (www.getinthepicture.org.uk) also contains details of Christmas services in local churches and a brief outline of the Christmas story. Hot refreshments were served throughout the day.
The afternoon concluded with a shoppers Carol service with Christingle Procession inside St Paul’s Church at 4.00pm. The re-telling of the Christmas story led by members of St Paul’s Ministry Team.
