Youth to go to Cambridge on a mission
October maybe a good few months away but hundreds of young people are already gearing up to go bring hope to Cambridge and give away God's love.
A s a youth outworking of HOPE - Youth For Christ and Soul Survivor are running Beyond Belief - 6 days of words, works and wonders. Back in 2004, London hosted Soul In The City on a huge scale and in 2008 HOPE sprung up in local areas. Now Cambridge feels it is time to bring a big mission to their city for 2011.
Hosted and fuelled by loads of local churches and organisations, delegates will engage in community action and outreach projects, sharing the outrageous grace of God.
Camping out together in a local school, young people will start each day with worship and teaching led by the Soul Survivor team. Then in groups of about 20 they'll spread out across the city, digging gardens, painting community facilities, running youth cafes and outreach events, making Jesus known wherever they go. This is the most significant youth led mission event in the UK and it is hoped will be just the start of a whole series of these missions around the country.
Jim Overton, Director of YFC Cambridge and an organiser, said: "We just want to give hundreds of young people a lifechanging taste of selfless service, whether they are from Cambridge or from further away. This will equip the local Church to extend its welcome and witness and will bless the city with an outpouring of kindness, opening eyes to the goodness of God. It's really exciting!"
Beyond Belief takes place from 22-28 October 2011. If you are interested in serving on the team as a young person or as an adult team leader or if you could host - you are needed. Sign up at www.beyondbelief.me ; 'like' the Beyond Belief facebook page or follow on twitter @gobeyondbelief
