The opportunity - Diamond Jubilee
Join this summer’s celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee–honouring Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years of service to the nation and the Commonwealth. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations offer churches a great opportunity to get out into the community. Serve your neighbours and the families in your area by taking in a lead. Your church can be a catalyst for once-in-a-lifetime street parties and festivities which will be remembered for decades.
The Eden project which organises ‘The Big Lunch’ each year has asked HOPE to help churches to get involved. During 2011 three million people shared food in their communities as part of The BigLunch. In 2012, on Sunday 3 June, up to six million people are expected to sit down together for The Big Jubilee Lunch with neighbours and friends.
Your church is invited to get on board. Come under the HOPE umbrella so what you do locally has the impact of a national campaign, attracting maximum publicity.
HOPE – churches doing more, together, in words and actions
HOPE is building momentum towards a whole year of mission in 2014. The goal is lasting spiritual change in the lives of individuals, as communities are transformed by churches working together in mission with practical action as well as words.
Your local Diamond Jubilee celebrations can be part of a national mosaic of churches working together, building community and sharing Jesus.
Create life-long memories
"The Diamond Jubilee Big Sunday Lunch gives churches a great way to do mission together in words and actions – building communities of hope and bridges to share faith." Roy Crowne, Executive Director of HOPE
"2012 has two once in a life time experiences for the Church here in the UK – a Diamond Jubilee and an Olympic Games. The Big Jubilee Lunch is a catalyst for further opportunities for Christians to connect with their community through the Euro Cup beginning a few days later and then the Olympics eight weeks later. I encourage the Church to come on board and make the most of this unique opportunity." David Willson – CEO More than Gold
