Eggstravaganza
Churches in Lymm, Warrington held a free Eggstravaganza for families in the neighbourhood.
There was pancake tossing and a party atmosphere alongside a bouncy castle for the kids.
There was much chatter, in anticipation for Easter and the churches made further connections with the community.
Christians handed out leaflets and invitations to all the Easter services in the 9 churches in the area, as well as Easter tracts and children’s Easter magazines.
Sally Willett, an organiser, said: "It was great fun. we had a number of good conversations and prayed with people both in the prayer tent and prayer room. A real breakthrough."
The Sanctuary Cafe is a joint churches venture that began through Hope 08, a vision sited in the URC hall, and is supported and staffed by volunteers from all of the local churches. The next special Hope event is a Royal wedding Party with a big screen and party for the whole community. www.sanctuarycafe.org.uk
Easter Giveaway
Members of Bury Street Chapel, a small church in Enfield, have moved their annual Easter giveaway up a level this year. This Easter Saturday the group will give away free Creme eggs, service invitations, Bibles and copies of the Jesus film on DVD.
Volunteers usually get involved in a giveaway at Christmas, Easter and Harvest but instead of just outside of their church they have now moved up to a local parade of shops where more people will pass.
Dale Price, a member of the chapel, said: "We are quite small but we want the church to be known and seen in our community. We would love to help people understand who we are and what we are about. We will point to Jesus at each opportunity."
There are plans in the future to try and get more churches involved in HOPE activity with a suggestion of a free car wash and coffee while you wait.
