Hope for Les Miserables
Potentially the biggest blockbuster of the year, Les Miserables, hit box offices 11th January in the UK.
Every day Church (then Queens Road Church) in Wimbledon completed 2012 with a Christmas carol service called ‘Les Miserables of Bethlehem’, explaining the parallels of the narrative with the Christmas story and the Gospel. Record numbers attended as they harnessed excitement for the up and coming film release.
"Les Miserables" (meaning wretched ones), adapted from Victor Hugo’s novel, explores key Christian themes, such as forgiveness, hope and redemption. With so many of the scenes related to the gospel, Les Miserables gives great openings to talk about the forgiveness and hope Jesus offers us all.
Make the most of those water-cooler moments when discussing films you’ve seen and consider taking your friends to Les Miserables and discussing it afterwards.
