Ways to pray
Hope For The Future 2

These are just two of many models of prayer that you could encourage as part of HOPE.  The HOPE for the Future book and the new resource book out in April 2013 expand on these themes, along with a huge list of prayer resources.

Prayer together

One powerful way to pray is to arrange for a corporate inter-church prayer meeting/event to pray for your area and seek God about your mission plans in your area. Some regions have established regular area-wide prayer events and networks. They become accepted as part of the Church calendar and it encourages, inspires and enables people to keep on living out their faith as community.  The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity happens each year from the 18-25 January and is organised by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. You could get your church or small group involved 2013 - What does God require of us?

Healing on the streets

Healing on the Streets (HOTS) in many areas started as an outworking of HOPE locally. Christians go out on the streets, of their towns and cities, offering to pray for people’s physical and emotional healing. Volunteers make it their goal to reach the community and seize the opportunity to talk to people about Jesus and pray for them, often with positive tangible results. Several areas have begun healing rooms in their city with great success. HOPE Nottingham, formerly NG9, provides hundreds with practical training on participating in healing outreach.

A creative prayer night or thanksgiving meal

This can mean whatever you want it to mean! People like to pray in loads of different ways, so it could be good to make space for this. You could have a variety of different prayer stations through the venue, including ideas such as;

  •  painting and drawing facilites
  •  providing local and national newspapers so people can pray for current world issues
  •  places to write prayer requests
  •  space for quiet contemplation

Let's take some time to honour God by gathering over a meal to thank him for all that he has done for us, all he is doing and all he will do.
