HOPE at Christmas magazine2020 has undoubtedly been a year full of challenges. At the same time, though, we’ve heard so many stories of churches and individuals reaching out to their communities with the Christian message of hope, in the most creative of ways. What better time to do that than Christmas, when we celebrate the son of God being born into the mess of our world?
HOPE Together is passionate about resourcing churches to share Jesus with their villages, towns and cities, which means we’re delighted that our ‘HOPE at Christmas’ magazine is now available!
This eye-catching, engaging magazine is aimed at people who wouldn’t yet call themselves Christians. Alongside fun Christmas articles, it also features real-life testimonies about people coming to faith and finding freedom from debt through Christian Money Advice. David and Carrie Grant share honestly about how their Christian faith has impacted their careers and family life and there are inspiring features about Christian footballers Ira Jackson Jr and Adebayo Akinfenwa. There’s also an article about how Francis Collins, a scientist leading the search for a COVID-19 vaccine, draws strength from his faith at this testing time. All these articles are designed to share Christian hope with people in a relatable way – a perfect springboard for them to connect more with their local church.
There’s also a section on ‘The Wellbeing Journey’ – a new resource for churches and communities, which takes the form of an eight-part video series and accompanying book, both exploring holistic wellbeing. In HOPE at Christmas, Dave Smith, the author of the book ‘God’s Plan For Your Wellbeing,’ shares his ‘Wellbeing Dashboard’ – a way to grow in awareness of how we’re doing in various areas of our lives and to prompt steps to see improvement. After this year of national hardship, focusing on wellbeing seems even more important than ever before.
Roy Crowne, HOPE’s executive director, says: ‘We hope that all these different articles will connect with readers. The Wellbeing Journey launches in January 2021, so you could even use HOPE at Christmas to invite people in your community to join your church as they host the video series!
‘In the past, people have also handed out copies of the HOPE magazines with food parcels, or posted them through doors with invitations to their online or face-to-face events. The magazine is priced at just 10p per copy and is available from the HOPE Together online shop. We would love to hear about the creative ways your church plans to use them!’
